Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October

Breast Cancer Awareness - PinkDrive

It's breast cancer awareness month, and the drive show got the ladies from PinkDrive, Liz Labuschagne and Lize de Jonge, to talk to us.

Check out the audio below to hear what happened on the show, and to get some information on breast cancer.

Here are some pictures, demonstrating how to check for lumps. (thank you to our model, Nadine Moore)

1. Start with putting your arm above and behind your head as so:

2. Feel underneath your arm at the top of the breast for any lumps, or bumps using your index, middle and ring finger.

3. Move down to the side of the breast and feel for any lumps or bumps in the form of a 6.

4. Move around your breast continuously in a side to side motion feeling for any abnormal growths. Repeat this process but this time in a up down motion.

If you do come across any lumps, bumps or anything that concerns you, make an apointment with your doctor. Breast cancer is a cureable desease if detected and treated early enough.

Be sure to visit www.pinkdrive.co.za for more information.

U2

Rumours have been flying around that they will be coming to SA early next year. Now, according to www.antimusic.com they are going to release a new album before the tour next year!

This is great news for all U2 fans! They may be getting older in age, but it doesn't seem to influence their music...

Rocktober Acoustic Sessions - 8 Rocktober 2010 - DIE TUINDWERGIES

DIE TUINDWERGIES

Alright, so, Rocktober 2010 has been kicked off, and to take it one step further we are doing the Rocktober Friday Acoustic Sessions with a selct few bands. What's quite cool about these acoustic sessions is not only that it is broadcasted live to our audience, but that a few VIP guest listeners are invited to come to the sessions, mingle with the band and just have a good time with us. So the first acoustic session happened this past Friday (8 Rocktober) and what a way to kick it off. We had Die Tuindwergies with us. They jammed a few of their old, and a new song for us, and they also had some airtime with JDP on the drive show. Now it goes without saying that these guys rock, but man, did they give us a show! They blew everyone away with their raw sounds coming through like never before! Soon enough podcasts and vodcasts will be uploaded. So if you did miss it, do not worry.

Be sure to go to one of the following sites and become a fan of Tuindwergies on facebook!

Music News

Phil Collins has decided to retire from music! Unbelievable! He has been around for ages, starting off with playing drums for Genesis, going solo, and then doing a R&B album. Aparently he is going to write a book... about his large collection of Alamo and Texas Revolution artifacts. Hmmm, interesting. Wonder why he would want to do that?

One Day In The Life Of A Skydiver

We have started a feature "one day in the life of..." and decided to kick it off with Skydiving! And what a way to start it! If you have never skydived, then you hvaen't lived! An unbelievable experience. We went up 11000 feet, and jump out of a plane. During freefall which only lasts aproximately 40 seconds, you reach speeds of up to 200 km/h!!! Once you open up the parachute, its a niced, comfortable and relaxing glide down to Earth.

Check out the pictures from our adventure.

Thanks to SA Skydiving School who accomodated us and showed us an experience of a lifetime. If you want to go skydiving you must do it through these guys! They are simply the best. What is real cool is the fact that you can choose to have the whole experience filmed and have pictures taken of you while you are falling. There are various options to choose from if you feel up to skydiving. You can either choose to do a Tandem Jump (if you really only want to do it once) or you can go for the Accelerated Freefall Course which is a full on training course, so that you can jump on your own. Visit http://www.saskydive.com/ or contact Mike Teague 0721246670 for more information.
